 Luke Reichle designs for film, television, theater and the retail market. Early training in painting, sculpture and printmaking led to enrollment in San Francisco’s renowned Pacific Fashion Institute. While still in school, his one-of-a-kind women’s eveningwear was featured at Henri Bendel and Saks Fifth Avenue.
Upon moving to New York, he came to the attention of Perry Ellis, for whom he worked on the development and launch of Perry Ellis America. He was hired away to Calvin Klein Menswear and later was named design director of Bjorn Borg Design Group, overseeing an international design team developing categories of men’s collection sportswear, activewear, shoes, underwear and leathergoods.
In 1990 he made the transition to costume design and has since worked in the mediums of film, television and theater. Working his way up from entry level and assistant desgin positions on such films as The Firm (1993), The Mambo Kings (1992), Fatal Instinct (1993), Regarding Henry (1991), Proof of Life (2002), and Pontiac Moon (1994), led to his solo debut designing The Positively True Adventures Of The Alleged Texas Cheerleader Murdering Mom (1993), followed by Diggstown (1992), The Scout (1994), Soul Of The Game (1996), The Fantasticks (2000), Lord Of Illusions (1995), Down Periscope (1996), The Glimmer Man (1996), A Simple Wish (1997), Cowboys And Angels (2000), Shadow Hours (2000), American Outlaws (2001) and both Paul Schrader and Renny Harlin’s Exorcist Prequels (2004 and 2005.)
Theatrical credits in Los Angeles include Beth Henley’s Control Freaks -[with Ruth Myers] (1994) and The Tiffany Theater production of Marvin’s Room (1997.) After designing the pilot for "CSI:Miami", producer Jerry Bruckheimer tapped him to create the look for the top rated series "Without A Trace" (2002- ) now shooting its fifth season.
Luke’s breadth of experience allows him to move comfortably through the milieux of period, fantasy and comtemporary design. Currently, his line of accessories for Harley-Davidson can be found in their stores around the world. An avid studio aritst, his paitings and block prints have enjoyed exhibition on the west coast. |
